Thanks for the Galleywood link Burnsy, I hadn't seen that. A burst of nostalgia. It made me decide to go for another visit one day. I hadn't realised that a heritage centre is now in a part of the former grandstand, including the Horseshoe tea rooms (open Suns 12-4) which was formerly a council depot.(left centre of your google image) What a centre of racing Mid Essex was ...Baileys,Poston, Galleywood, Kateley....

Well yes I don't understand what happened to Mid Essex at all Felix, it's tumbled from a rival to Newmarket and Lambourn to it's present state of an equine desert! Still as one door slams shut another swings open, Newmarket and Lambourn have nothing that could possibly rival the Horseshoe Tearooms!
ReplyDeleteJust wait until Great Leighs is back up and running....
ReplyDeleteNice comeback Felix and I really do hope that happens too, surely someone will persevere and get the course licensed and pick up where it left off.
