Auction of Racing Scam Horses at Epsom 1954

Two of the horses used in an illegal horse race betting scam at Bath are paraded for auction for prospective buyers. Both horses, Santa Amaro and Francasal, made racing history but were banned from racing in England and four men were jailed after the ringing coup in July 1953. Santa Amaro won at Bath in the name of Francasal. Santa Amaro, which was sold for 400 guineas, was led by Ms M. Parris of Epsom and Francasal, sold for 160 guineas, was led by T. Cavanagh, also of Epsom.
