Some Winners, Runners up, and Minor placings from the Fifties, Sixties, and Seventies



1959 Brighton
Persian Chariot is driven out by Brian Jago to win the Pier Selling Handicap from Dambuster (Charlie Smirke) right, and Checkmont (Terry Stringer)



1969 Ascot
Only three runners for the Rous Memorial H'cap but plenty of drama as Black Sky (Des Cullen) left, finishes first ahead of the the blinkered and heavily sweating Thane (Brian Jago) in second place with Jago (David Maitland) in third place. However, Brian Jago on Thane placed an objection on the grounds of bumping and boring against Black Sky and Des Cullen,  the objection was subsequently upheld and Thane awarded the race.



1971 Epsom
Spoiled Lad (Ernie Johnson) on the rails, wins The Blue Riband Trial Stakes from Charladouce (Geoff Lewis) 2nd right, in third place is Klavier (Tony Murray) far left, and finishing fourth Homeric (Joe Mercer) 2nd left


1975 Folkestone
Grace Aureole (Geordie Ramshaw) wins the two year old seller by a comfortable length from Cammarlin (Dandy Nicholls)



1975 Windsor
 Tadorna  (D. Gillespie) in the centre wins  from Night Sky (R. Muddle) right, and Smart Shirley (Ian Jenkinson) in the checked cap



1975 York
Huzzar on the rails ridden by Terry Cain wins  from Swell Fellow partnered by Tony Kimberley



1975 York
After a real head to head battle  between the two fillies over the final couple of furlongs Moonlight Night ridden by Geoff Lewis left, just get the better of May Hill partnered by Pat Eddery in a tight photo finish to win by the narrow margin of a head and take the Musidora Stakes.



1976 Brighton
Galadriel (R McKay) left, does just enough to get home first and win the selling handicap by a neck from Cyclamate (D Cullen)
